Alabama ACs Celebrate Centennial Anniversaries
Some 85 KDs gathered in Montgomery, Ala., on Aug. 22 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of both the Montgomery and Selma, Ala., alumnae chapters, which were founded on June 19 and August 20, 1910, respectively.
Members of the White Rose and Emerald Circles were recognized, as well as current and past national officers. After visiting with old friends and playing "Kappa Delta Trivia," the women listened to an inspirational speech from National President Beth Martin Langford who reminded them of what it means to be Kappa Delta and to always strive for that which is honorable, beautiful and highest.
The event was held at the Montgomery Country Club where KDs sampled a Southern-inspired menu of chicken salad sandwiches, cheese straws, bacon and tomato sandwiches, and of course, sweet iced tea. Green and white balloons and birthday cake added to the festive atmosphere, and door prizes were provided by Kappa Delta business owners: Pat Joiner McDonald, Painted Pink; Ashley Freeman Gilbreath, Parish; Cindy Warren DeLongchamp, Montgomery Automotive Group; and Hollis Crawford Marshall, Peas In A Pod.
Montgomery AC President Leslie Gaither Robertson said, “It was truly an afternoon filled with memories of college days, love for one another, and hopes for our new sisters!”
