Making Great Things Happen: Dr. Joy Garrison Cauffman

Dr. Joy Garrison Cauffman, Sigma Kappa-Ohio State, was recently inducted into The Ohio State University Hall of Fame by the College of Education and Human Ecology Alumni Society. Joy received the university’s highest honor for her contributions to health education. Her pioneering research during the 1980s into detecting colorectal cancer resulted in life-saving changes in screening techniques and changed physicians’ advice to their patients around the world. Joy recently completed a 10-year study to determine the effect of continuing medical education on physician performance and patient health-care outcomes and has been invited to present her findings in the U.S. and six other countries.
