Georgia O'Keeffe
The partnership between Kappa Delta and the prestigious Georgia O'Keeffe Museum was established in honor of one of Kappa Delta's most prominent members. Georgia O'Keeffe was initiated into Kappa Delta while she was a student at Chatham Episcopal Institute in Virginia, and contributed to the design of its initiation ceremony.
This partnership includes an important gift from the Kappa Delta Foundation to support the Art and Leadership Program for Girls with funding stipends for two Kappa Delta interns as well as general program support. Promoting leadership among girls and women is one of Kappa Delta's primary goals. We are pleased to be a part of this worthwhile program.
The Kappa Deltas chosen to participate in the Art and Leadership Program as interns for the summer of 2009 are:
Kimberly Weaver from the Upsilon chapter at Beloit College in Beloit, Wis., theater and dance major
Chelsea Vaughan from the Sigma Pi chapter at Albion College in Albion, Mich., psychology and communications major and art minor
As the affiliation grows, plans include O'Keeffe Art and Leadership seminars for college women on the campuses of participating interns. As part of this new and developing partnership, the O'Keeffe Museum is offering a special Kappa Delta membership to students and alumnae of Kappa Delta.
