Making Great Things Happen -Paula Vaughn Huston

In her own words...Paula Vaughn Huston, Omega Xi - Cincinnati

I was awarded the Indiana Council on Economic Education 2008 Olin W. Davis Economic Educator of the Year award. At the KD national convention in Orlando, I used the $1000 prize money to buy a lovely piece of KD jewelry in the auction and had the honor of having Corre Anding Stegall present it to me. Corre Anding Stegall was the national president when I initiated so it meant a lot to have her present me with my prize.

The summer of 2009 was quite exciting for me. I was awarded a study tour to South Africa. Hundreds of teachers from all across the country applied for one of the 24 spots on the study tour, and I was one of the lucky ones to receive the award. The study tour program is sponsored by the Council for Economic Education, the US Department of Education and the US Department of State.

I traveled to Johannesburg, Bloomfonteine and Durban among many other sites. I was proud to represent the United States and our education system. We were there to visit schools and learn about South Africa's economic education endeavors as well as to build relationships with the schools and education system.
