Here’s What’s Ahead for Alumnae

Arkansas State Day, hosted by the Northwest Arkansas alumnae chapter, will be held in conjunction with the Alabama-Arkansas football game on Saturday, Sept. 25, in Fayetteville. NWARKD received a $500 grant for the first KD State Day in Arkansas, and details are being planned for this event. For more information, contact Kristi Callaway at callaway3@sbcglobal.net.

Georgia/South Carolina State Day will be held in Atlanta on July 30 and 31 at the Druid Hills Golf Club. The featured guest speakers will be Patricia Barnes, better known as “Sister Schubert,” and National President Beth Langford. On Friday night, “mini” reunions are planned for the chapters. This is going to be an exciting evening of renewed friendships, sharing memories and meeting new sisters. Saturday will be a day filled with Kappa Delta traditions as you celebrate the KD heritage and plan for the future. In the afternoon, “Girl Power” sessions will be offered. These will provide the collegians and alumnae an opportunity to share with each other in areas of interests for their chapters. For more information, contact Pat Tooke at patooke@bellsouth.net.

Ohio State Day, “Summer in the City,” will be held July 23 - 24, in Columbus, Ohio. Weekend plans include Friday night pizza party at Cambria Suites Hotel; Saturday luncheon at Little Bear Golf Club, Lewis Center, Ohio; $35 per person. “Roll Call” for Southern California State Day is Impressive

With the theme “KonnecteD 4 Life,” the event included a luncheon, awards presentations and a heartwarming talk by Lil Leslie, Kappa Delta Foundation chairman. A Senior Induction Ceremony welcomed 19 young women into alumnae membership, and a ceremony for White Rose and Emerald Circle members celebrated their 50 and 60 years of KD sisterhood.

Helping those outside the KD circle was also on the agenda for the day: a White Rose Tree raised monies for the KD Foundation; members contributed to a “Go Confidently” handbag drive; and a raffle of gift baskets and the table centerpieces raised funds for organizations supporting the prevention of child abuse.

Harriet, a member of the Long Beach AC and a former NLT member, was later surprised when Lil presented her with an Outstanding Alumnae Award for her contributions to the community.

Southern California State Day provides an opportunity for current members of Epsilon Upsilon-Cal Poly to meet founding members of the chapter.

KD legacy Theia Sexton helps her mom, Peri Andrus Sexton, alumnae chapter operations specialist 10, blow up Confidence Coalition balloons that were given away later during the Southern California State Day.

Carol serves KD as a National Panhellenic Conference delegate alternate and chairman of the Nominating Committee, and Donna is secretary of the Long Beach alumnae chapter. Gamma Iota won the Mileage Award for sending the most collegians the most miles to State Day, which was held in San Gabriel, Calif.
