Suzie Neal Buxton, Nu - Oklahoma State, has been involved in Kappa Delta and her community since 1972, believing it is always best to give back to others. After graduatiing from Oklahoma State with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education, Suzie made the decision to work towards obtaining her masters degree in reading from the University of Central Oklahoma. She has taught elementary school in Oklahoma since 1976, being named Teacher of the Year at Chisholm Elementary School, Edmond, Okla., in 2006. Throughout her career, she has mentored many students and trained as a Great Expectations teacher for the State of Oklahoma.
Suzie is known throughout the community not only for teaching first grade but for her volunteer activities. She is a sustaining member of the Junior Hospitality Club, a non-profit fundraising organization in Oklahoma City; the Edmond Women’s Club, a non-profit fundraising organization in Edmond, Okla.; P.A.C.E. (Parent Booster Club for the Performing Arts at Edmond Memorial High School); the Oklahoma City Festival of the Arts; and St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City, Okla.
She, coming from a long line of Kappa Delta's, has stayed active in KD, serving as president, vice president and recommendation chairman for the Oklahoma City, Okla., alumnae association. She has also served as the president and secretary of the KD Parents' Club for Nu chapter, supporting her daughter Sally.
Suzie volunteered to be the class coordinator so she can continue to keep up with her Kappa Delta sisters. "We have big class reunions every five years at the KD house in Stillwater," Suzie explains. "I thought being class coordinator would be a good way to get in touch with some sisters we haven't seen in many years."
Help us keep in touch with the KD sisters from your pledge class. You are probably already keeping in touch with many of the sisters with whom you graduated. We’d like your help in contacting those sisters when we plan KD reunions, state days and other events in your area.
